#aznamnews: US-First Lady besucht Namibia
Dr. Jill Biden, Ehefrau von US-Präsident Joe Biden, trifft morgen in Namibia ein und wird von Namibias First Lady Monica Geingos empfangen.
Während ihres Aufenthalts wird Dr. Biden auch einen Höflichkeitsbesuch bei Präsident Hage Geingob und anderen hochrangigen Beamten abstatten.
Sie wird auch nach Kenia reisen und soll Afrika am Sonntag wieder verlassen.
Ziel ihres Besuchs sei es, die Partnerschaften der Vereinigten Staaten auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent zu stärken und die gemeinsamen Prioritäten in der Region voranzutreiben, teilte die US-Botschaft in Windhoek heute Nachmittag mit.
"Bidens Engagement wird sich auf die Stärkung von Frauen und Jugendlichen, die Bekämpfung der Ernährungsunsicherheit und die Förderung unserer gemeinsamen demokratischen Werte konzentrieren", teilte die Botschaft mit.
Der Besuch folgt auf den US-Afrika-Gipfel der Staats- und Regierungschefs Ende letzten Jahres, bei dem Dr. Biden - der einen Doktortitel in Pädagogik hat - ein zweitägiges Ehepaar-Programm leitete.
Für Dr. Biden ist dies der sechste Besuch in Afrika: der erste Besuch in Namibia und der dritte Besuch in Kenia.
