It’s not just a shopping centre – it’s a necessity!

Assets being added
Shoppers and retailers can look forward to many changes in the coming 18 months.
Oryx boasts a portfolio of properties within the office, industrial and retail space. Most notably Oryx’s retail assets include Maerua Mall, Gustav Voigts Centre, Baines Shopping Centre and Urban Village at Elisenheim.

But let’s start with a bit of news about Oryx Property Group, which turned 20 years (as a listed entity) and has been providing shareholders with quality assets and strong dividend payouts over this period. Oryx is embarking on an asset-growing phase and will be adding new assets to its portfolio enabling it to grow and remain a very attractive option for its shareholders to remain invested and invest even further.

Maerua Mall

Maerua Mall is undergoing constant upgrades as shoppers would have noticed during the past 18 months. As a regional shopping centre, constant upgrades and new tenants are introduced to make Maerua a dynamic and pleasant experience for shoppers.

Maerua has invested in a large family entertainment centre anchored by a kiddie’s play area – Joyful Noise that caters not only to playtime but also hosts parties in themed rooms. Ten-pin bowling, glow-in-the-dark putt-putt, a trampoline park and a gaming arcade rounds off the offering, making this a one-of-a-kind for families with children of all ages to come and enjoy a day out.

Groceries, food, fashion, movies, health and home décor as well as electronics and medical services are some of the retail outlets represented at Maerua Mall, not to mention tenants that complement lifestyle living in the food and dining area.

Last year Oryx mentioned in this publication the extension of Maerua Mall towards the northern side. This will now become a reality with the extension set to start construction in the next two months with a completed project by mid-2024! Open-air restaurants and new brands catering for retailers who have been asking for space but could not be accommodated yet will now be welcomed to the Maerua Mall family.

Office tower

Maerua Mall does not only cater to shopping. The Maerua Office Tower, Deloitte and Methealth buildings surround the retail centre and Oryx is proud to announce a refurbishment of the Office Tower’s common area lobbies and reception area on ground level which will happen in 2023.

The company will be concentrating on upgrading parking areas and ease of parking at Maerua Mall as well as directional signage for customers to make their journey in the mall and the surrounding node easier.

At Maerua Mall they care about our environment and community and as such they often engage in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) campaigns, part of which is their solar installations of solar panels that provide 3.5kw of energy generation from their roofs.
