Your coffee and book shop with a difference

Discover the perfect place to unwind and get rid of your everyday worries in Walvis Bay.

Cornerstone Christian Bookshop & Coffee Shop is not your usual establishment. It is much more than a place where you can just pop in for a coffee and to relax.

Located next to Probst Bakery in 12th Road, the establishment which is situated right in the heart of town in Walvis Bay, has been running since 2015 and serves much more than just coffee and good Christian literature for its clients.

“Our winning recipe is a combination of coffee mixed with silence, lots of love, books and quality company,” says Maarten (MB) Baars and Hanri Silver.

The two full-time missionaries took over the business in 2021 with the aim of creating a platform to reach out to people.

“We don’t want to be a shop that just sells the word of God. We are here to lend a shoulder an ear to listen or a prayer. Therefore, Cornerstone is exactly what the name says, a solid building block for everyone who visits.”

Reach the local community

According to Hanri the venture allows them to take hands with locals and enable them to reach all corners of the community.

“We prefer to spend time with each client who walks in. Between these four walls, we also plan and carry out community outreach initiatives targeting underprivileged people.”

Gospel music fills the air while you indulge in a coffee with a wide assortment of books for sale, books to read, books to share and Christian DVDs to choose from.

There is also a variety of genuine handmade Namibian products produced by locals. These range from earrings, bracelets, a local Christian brand of clothing and Christian literature published by Namibians.

Cornerstone is also the perfect venue for Bible study groups with worship evenings being hosted on the rooftop of the building.

The shop is open from Monday to Thursday 09:00 to 17:00, and again on Friday from 09:00 to 15:00.
