Maija Katjaimo: Fashion designer

Maija Katjaimo is a 24-year-old fashion designer who studied fashion design at the Collage of the Arts. She showcased her first collection on the biggest fashion platform in Namibia, MTC Windhoek Fashion Week, and said cutting and putting items of clothing together is something she started a long time ago.

She was inspired to pursue this career by her grandmother, who used to make dolls and sell them at Wernhil in Windhoek.

“Seeing her cut and make those fabricated human-like dolls come to life in full colour and facial features always made me wonder what I can do,” she said.
