Building a blossoming Namibia

Jemimah Ndebele
Our beautiful country, filled with contrasting landscapes of high dunes and low seas, has seen changes of all kinds over the past 34 years - and 2024 has so far proven to be no different.

From our national soccer team qualifying to the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) top 16 to the loss of our third head of state, this year has seen many firsts for Namibia.

Although the emotions evoked by the two may be on opposite sides of the spectrum, they both have one thing in common - they are testament to the blood, sweat and tears that went into building a country on the basis of democracy, peace and unity.

The construction of the proverbial Namibian House is one that is ongoing, until the vast potential held within the borders of this great land and its people are fully unlocked. How do we know when it will be complete? Truth is, we don’t. We can only continue holding hands and forming strategic partnerships with realistic goalposts to gauge our progress, making sure no one is left behind. No one being left behind - that should be the end goal in building a blossoming Namibia, which can only be attained with continued efforts from both the public and private sectors in the form of corporate social investment and responsibility. Our privileges, however big or small, should be our conviction to give back, to build and ultimately make sure no one is left behind.
