For all your marine electronics

ADVERTORIAL

Radio Electronic (PTY) Ltd is Namibia’s leading company in the field of Marine Electronics, as well as leading the forefront in Radio and Satellite communications solutions.

Our extensive distribution network also encompasses power-related equipment and lifestyle products, reflecting our commitment to comprehensive offerings within the industry. With over five decades of operational prowess, our foundation rests upon unparalleled technical proficiency, robust service infrastructure, and a steadfast dedication to delivering competitively priced equipment.

Operating from strategic bases in Walvis Bay and Windhoek, our aim is to furnish cutting-edge equipment complemented by exceptional service across Namibia. Our inception dates to the early 1960s, initiated by Mr. S Rossler in Walvis Bay, aligning with the flourishing fishing industry along the South-West African coastline. Our early emphasis was on revolutionising fish finding techniques, marked by the introduction of pioneering Furuno echo sounders into the local market.

Over the years, our journey has witnessed significant transformations, encompassing changes in ownership, structural adaptations, and office relocations. Throughout these transitions, our steadfast commitment to serving Namibia’s maritime industry has remained resolute.

Looking towards the future, our focus extends beyond the fishing industry; we’re exploring avenues to expand into the deep-sea market. This strategic move involves extending support to the commercial and offshore energy sectors, firmly rooted in our commitment to upholding the esteemed legacy and reliability of Furuno within the maritime landscape.

Furuno, renowned for its manufacturing prowess in marine electronics, crafts an extensive array of products, ranging from radar systems to fish finders, GPS navigation devices, and communication equipment—integral components within the maritime domain. Embraced by professionals and enthusiasts alike in the boating and fishing communities, Furuno’s technology consistently garners acclaim for its unwavering reliability and pinpoint accuracy.

The Furuno Fish Species and Biomass Fish Finder model FSS-3BB is equipped with a revolutionary new technology, the IDENTI-FISH™ function, which allows real-time species identification. IDENTI-FISH™ not only improves efficiency but also contributes to sustainable fishing by helping to avoid unwanted catches. The presentation of IDENTI-FISH™ echoes is a combined high and low-frequency echogram. This mode allows the visualization of an echo difference between fish with swim bladders and those without swim bladders, presenting the echoes with different colours for quick identification of species and their distribution, even when mixed.

Profiling the seafloor

WASSP Multi-Beam Sonar technology profiles the seafloor up to 100 times faster than single-beam fish finders. With real-time 3D WASSP mapping, the water column and seafloor can be profiled with unparalleled accuracy. WASSP has been adopted by commercial fishing, recreational fishing, super yachts, hydrography, professional workboats, navy, and coast guard sectors.

WASSP systems are designed to seamlessly integrate with major navigation hardware and software platforms such as MaxSea TimeZero Pro and OLEX, as well as hydrographic software platforms. The DIGITAL DRX transceiver used with the F3Xi, F3XL, and W3X models has supercomputer-level processing capabilities.

With WASSP WMB-80 transducers for use with DRX-32 and DRX-46 at depths of 2 m to 1000 m and WMB-160 for use with DRX-32 and DRX-46 at depths of 1m to 600m, much greater depth can be achieved than with a traditional fish finder of similar power.

The new high-power FAR-2258 50Kw and FAR-2268DS 60Kw radars incorporate the Echo Average function. EAV is a signal processing technology that eliminates unnecessary echoes in the image, using correlation techniques that facilitate echo distinction. The new Target Tracking (TT) function allows for target detection in a range of 48 NM, whereas previous models were limited to 32 NM. They provide better detection and extended range with very high resolution. Up to 40 origin marks can be entered (20 more than in previous models). They make it easier to identify fishing areas, with colou-changing trace lines that automatically show water temperature, allowing the observer to intuitively identify fishing grounds.

As Radio Electronic (PTY) Ltd continues its journey, we remain dedicated to technological innovation, service excellence, and a deep-seated commitment to our clientele. Our vision extends beyond the horizon as we navigate the dynamic currents of the maritime sector in Namibia and beyond. With a history steeped in expertise and a future anchored in innovation, we persist in setting new benchmarks and driving advancements within the maritime industry.
