Our bodies hold the wisdom
Delving into everything as completely, totally, and consciously as possible.
Henriette Lamprecht – Finding your purpose and living it fully and authentically, is one of the scariest things you can experience in this journey called life. Every day is an invitation to show up and she’s proud to say she’s found her purpose, says Nakashwa Julia Hango, creator, founder and photographer of Body Positive Namibia as well as tantric massage therapist.
In a world where we are taught and have been raised to believe we are less than we are and that our softness is a weakness, it is an absolute necessity to “unlearn all we have been programmed to be”, she explains. We need to relearn and find our way back to “our truth, our magic and our power”.
In touch with her body and embracing her sensuality and being a woman, Julia admits she still has to show up daily to affirm her being – her sensuality, her pleasure, her voice and her body – through practice and continuously reprogramming her subconscious mind.
Offering amongst others tantric massage ceremonies and sanctuaries for deep healing intimacy and self-exploration, Julie explains that tantra is an Eastern Hinduism and Buddhist philosophy. It includes several spiritual concepts and techniques including breathing, yoga and meditation that can increase sexual energy and awaken one’s Kundalini energy.
This energy can be used to create new realities – a new life of bliss and pleasure away from the world of suffering that many currently exist in – to heal oneself and others.
“Tantra is a spiritual practice in which all aspects of earthly life, including sex, can be a path to spiritual realisation. The essence of the practice is going into everything as completely, totally, and consciously as possible,” Julia says.
The Sanskrit word “tantra” is derived from “tan”, meaning “to weave” or “compose” and techniques for refinement or mastery of the self.
A tantric massage is a neo-tantric offering centred around using one’s sexual energy and magnetism to move and expand energy in and around another person's body.
Merging of therapies
“I merge bodywork (touch therapy), reiki and chakra-clearing energy healing modalities with sacred sexuality embodiment, chanting, de-armouring, psychic readings and breath work to move stagnant and dense energies from the body, and help to heal through trauma that is stored in the body,” Julia says.
She explains that every story and journey is different, so every massage is specifically tailored to the person’s energy needs with the aim varying from body to body.
The yoni massage with sacral chakra clearing and balancing and breath work is specifically for women who have shame and trauma stored in their wombs and who find it difficult to connect to their sexuality and feminine energy, or for women who are looking to delve deeper into their self-pleasure and manifestation journey, she says.
“It is a type of sensual massage that combines de-armouring work, learning about the basic anatomy of the yoni and one’s pleasure spots, breathing in and with the yoni, gazing and looking into the yoni. It isn’t about sex or foreplay, but more about unlearning, relearning, connecting and feeling through vulnerability and liberation.”
She explains that the sacral chakra is your creative and sexual energy wheel located at the naval and womb area. A lot of energy and trauma is usually stored in and blocks this chakra from flowing and moving. With crystal energy healing and African womb massage techniques, this energy is slowly softened, moved around and can be transformed.
“Yoni massage therapy aims to help you feel more comfortable with your body and gain a better understanding of what feels good to you. Yoni is the Sanskrit word for vagina, and it translates to ‘a sacred space.’ A yoni massage approaches the vagina as a revered part of the body, worthy of respect, honour and worship.”
The ultimate goal is to feel comfortable in your own skin and more in tune with your body, Julia explains. The practice can also be of benefit to someone who experienced sexual trauma, aiding in reconnecting with the body and approaching sensuality from a place of positivity, power and safety.
Your true, sensual self
People hear or read the word ‘tantra’ or tantric massage and immediately assume it to be an offering of sex, Julia says, “but it is more about the senses and surrendering for you to be your true sensual self”.
“The time of separation between spirituality and our sensual nature has long ended. Our bodies hold all the wisdom we seek on the outside. It is safe to go ‘within’, to uncover the mysteries of our sensuality and follow the wisdom of our pleasure.”
Everything she offers, from a massage to a reiki healing session, is a ceremony, Julia explains. “A sacred ceremony is a healing way to mark and celebrate a new beginning, a life-changing event, or an ending in an individual’s life. Often people come to me when they are at a crossroads in their life. In essence, a ritual is about bringing sacredness into your life, and about honouring something greater than you and I.
“Through all the ways in which we have learned to hate ourselves and each other, we are unlearning and developing new ways to love and live. Tantra is part of the new way. It is an ancient art that we can learn from in the now, to live within its teachings of bliss and pleasure.” - [email protected]; Facebook: Tantric Massage Therapy
