Bachmus sets the standard in product offerings

Revolutionizing the mining industry in Namibia
Bachmus is emerging as a beacon of excellence, transforming the mining landscape through its revolutionary lubricant products and fuel supply offerings. This Namibian enterprise is rewriting the rules of the mining game, redefining success in the local mining sector.

The story of Bachmus Oil and Fuel Supplies is a remarkable tale of grit, perseverance, and unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction, led by managing director, Corne Schalkwyk, since its humble beginnings in 1994. According to him, the company owes much of its achievements to its dynamic and skilled staff.

Today, Bachmus is a multi-brand supplier with depots located throughout Namibia, serving a diverse range of industries with the supply, storage, tracking of dispensing, and monitoring of fuels and lubricants engineered to withstand extreme temperatures, heavy loads and high pressures, ensuring optimal performance of mining equipment.

Bachmus is the main distributor for Caltex but also stocks or can source other major and niche lubricant brands. By adopting Bachmus' range of lubricant products, mining companies or their contractors in Namibia have witnessed a remarkable improvement in equipment performance, according to Schalkwyk. Reduced friction and wear translate into higher efficiency and reliability, leading to increased operational productivity and cost savings, he explains.

“In the competitive mining industry, the longevity of equipment is a crucial determinant of profitability,” he says.

Bachmus' Delo range of Caltex lubricants not only enhance performance but also prolong machinery life, significantly reducing maintenance costs and capital expenditures. One of the standout features of the Delo Caltex range is their environmentally conscious design. The company prioritizes the distribution of biodegradable and eco-friendly lubricants, mitigating the environmental impact of mining activities and aligning with Namibia's commitment to sustainability.

In tandem with its cutting-edge lubricant products, Bachmus recognized the need for a reliable and responsible fuel supply system to propel mining operations forward. The company ventured into fuel supply, providing a comprehensive solution that addresses the energy needs of the mining industry while adhering to stringent environmental standards.

Bachmus specialises in supplying fuel and technical services to mining, construction and commercial fleets to name a few. Mining operations are heavily reliant on a constant and uninterrupted supply of fuel to keep machinery running smoothly. Bachmus' well-established distribution network ensures a steady flow of fuel to mining sites across Namibia, minimizing downtime and optimizing productivity.

On the technical side, Bachmus provides a wide range of services including: oil sampling, oil analyses, computerised inventory control of fuel dispensing, automated greasing technology, onsite mobile self-bunded fuel tanks according to the client’s needs as well as expert technical advice. The systems and Bachmus' expertise has translated into some significant savings for many of its clients. These systems and services have helped companies extend oil draining intervals, have more control over fuel spend and identify possible mechanical issues based on oil analyses before a major break-down, thus avoiding expensive repair work. The fact that a self-bunded tank is mobile makes it easy to move to another location quickly and effortlessly, as opposed to having to break down and rebuild permanent structures.
