Bezant Resources: Copper and gold in the desert

Progress underway
The company says the project has the makings of a pathfinder project for Bezant's mining aspirations in southern Africa.
STAFF REPORTER
Bezant Resources has made progress on its Hope and Gorob Copper and Gold Project in the Namib Desert within the Swakopmund district and on the highly prospective Matchless Copper Belt. The company has announced that it has received letters of preparedness from its main contractors for future mining, processing plant construction and concentrate haulage. Additionally, it said offers for financing an off-grid hybrid renewable power supply for the project have been received.

While the mining licence is still pending, Bezant has finalised infrastructure, mine and pre-concentrator designs, audited and costed the repurposing of an existing flotation plant, and adopted a renewable energy solution. Implementing dry ore sorting on site will minimise water consumption.

A leading contracting group has provided costs for mining, ore haulage and concentrate transfer. An international engineering group has confirmed its readiness for the construction and installation of the front-end crushing, ore sorting and conveying circuits. A preferred EPCM supplier has been identified for the upgrading and repurposing of the flotation plant.

Colin Bird, chairman of Bezant, said: “We are pleased we have completed the chain of contractor services that will make up the Hope and Gorob mining operation.”

He said they look forward to working with quality names in a quality jurisdiction on a quality project and said the project has the makings of a pathfinder project for Bezant's mining aspirations in southern Africa.
