Taxi Driver

Sem Shaanika is a father of 6 children who decided to venture into driving a taxi as a means of income for him and his family. Being the man of the house and essentially a breadwinner, Shaanika saw the great responsibility and duty he has to “put bread on the table”. Shaanika says one of the greatest things of his career include meeting new people every day who have different stories to tell with different backgrounds. Sharing some downsides of his job, he says one of his biggest challenges he faces often as a taxi driver include high rising fuel prices. This, he says is one of the things which make it difficult to make a sustainable flow of cash or profit. He believes that the taxi fare should be increased in a reasonable manner which can also enable taxi drivers to operate and still have funds for sustaining living conditions.
