Geingob fordert Zusammenhalt
Windhoek (led) • Anlässlich des Internationalen Tags der Menschenrechte am 10. Dezember hat Namibias Präsident Hage Geingob zum Zusammenhalt aufgerufen. „[...] Alle Menschen sollen sich unabhängig von Rasse, ethnischer Zugehörigkeit, Geschlecht, Klasse, Religion oder politischer Zugehörigkeit wertgeschätzt, gleichberechtigt und respektiert fühlen“, teilte Geingob in einem Schreiben mit. Zugleich verwies er auf Namibias nationalen Feiertag, dem Tag der namibischen Frauen, der zeigleich stattfand. Er erinnerte an die Heldentaten der namibischen Frauen wie Kakurukaze Mungunda, die sich 1959 gegen die Zwangsumsiedlung nach Katutura durch das südafrikanische Apartheidsregime gewehrt hatte. In Katima Mulilo kamen zum nationalen Frauentag am vergangenen Freitag die Direktorin des Internationalen Frauenfriedenszentrums, Morina Muuondjo, und Vertreter des Ministeriums für Gleichstellung und Armutsbekämpfung zusammen. Dabei unterstützten sie die Kampagne „Orange the World“ („Die Welt in orange“), die auf ein Ende von geschlechtsspezifischer Gewalt abzielt.
