South Africa can set aside renewable energy for local consumption while expanding green hydrogen capacity at the same time, say Bruce Douglas Young, a senior lecturer at the Africa Energy Leadership Centre at the University of the Witwatersrand, as well as Craig McGregor, associate professor in mechanical and mechatronic engineering and director of the Solar Thermal Energy Research Group at Stellenbosch University.
