Furnishing a home with everything from groceries to gardening tools can be a tedious task. However, Agra Hyper, located in Lafrenz, makes it easy by offering a wide range of essential items for homemaking, including construction materials, pet medications, groceries, and much more.

This week, my.na.properties interviewed Agra Hyper employees to gain insight into their products. Veterinarian Johannes Ndafaediva highlighted a variety of pet health products on offer.

Healthy pets

"We offer a range of medicines to keep your pets safe and healthy. We have B12 vitamin tablets for maintaining a healthy animal appetite. If your dog refuses to eat, you can give them these tablets to stimulate their appetite."

Shoo-Fly, another range of products on offer, is a fly repellant that helps keep flies away from pets.

"Sometimes you may find wounds on the dog’s ear, so it can also be applied to heal the wounds on their ears.

Also, if a customer does not want to use the ointment, "we have a similar Shoo-Fly product that keeps the flies away after spraying the dog with this product. We also have Spot-On (Fibrotec). This one works to keep flies and ticks away from the dog. All you need to do is put a drop on the dog's back fur," he said in an interview with Properties’ Aina Raiza Kweyo.

Protect against weather

Kweyo was given a chance to explore the large building located in the industrial area of the city before meeting with Agra employee Jacques Kamati, who spoke to Kweyo about the significance of primer and its different application methods. "I have metal primers, the ones you use after welding because they help with rusting. These are quite important for your everyday farmer; if you do not want your doors or gates to rust, then you just regularly apply primer. One can use different methods to apply the primer; you can use the paintbrush, the roller brush, or the spray," he explained.

Kamati also walked Kweyo through the various types of waterproofing products available.

"In Namibia, we experience harsh weather conditions, with heavy rains and strong winds that can damage our homes and farms. That's why it is essential to invest in waterproofing solutions to protect our buildings and crops. Waterproofing your roof can prevent leaks and water damage to your home's interior. It also helps maintain the structural integrity of the roof and increases its lifespan," he said.

On farms, dams are used to store water for irrigation purposes. Waterproofing the dam prevents water from seeping through the walls and causing damage to the surrounding soil. At Agra Hyper, you can find a variety of waterproofing paints that can help protect your roofs and dams.

He added: "There are different types of paint available depending on the surface you want to protect, such as concrete, metal, or even wood. These paints are designed to provide a long-lasting and reliable barrier against moisture, preventing leaks and water damage."

Building equipment

Building a house or renovating an existing one is no small task. It requires careful planning, a good eye for design, and, of course, access to high-quality building materials. Whether you're a professional contractor or a DIY enthusiast, finding a reliable source of building materials is crucial to the success of your project.

Agra Hyper manager Corne van Niekerk, who is also an expert when it comes to the various kinds of building material, said: "We have two kinds of roof sheets available: inverted box rib (IBR) and corrugated roof sheets, which are two popular roofing options commonly used in industrial, commercial, and residential applications."

He explained that corrugated roof sheets, as the name suggests, have a corrugated profile that provides them with excellent strength and durability.

These roof sheets are suitable for both roofing and cladding applications and are commonly used in residential, agricultural, and industrial buildings. Corrugated roof sheets come in various thicknesses, ranging from 0.3 mm to 0.8 mm, and standard lengths of 1 m to 12 m. The width of corrugated roof sheets ranges from 610 mm to 1250 mm, with a standard effective coverage width of 762 mm.

IBR sheets are designed with a square fluted profile, which gives them excellent strength and stiffness. These roof sheets are suitable for both roofing and cladding applications and are commonly used in industrial and commercial buildings.

IBR roof sheets come in various thicknesses, ranging from 0.4 mm to 0.8 mm, and standard lengths of 1 m to 12 m. The width of IBR roof sheets ranges from 686 mm to 1250 mm, with a standard effective coverage width of 686 mm. Thinner corrugated roof sheets are normally used for temporary structures, while thicker ones are used for more permanent ones.

Van Niekerk explained that Agra provides manufacturing materials to surrounding manufacturers in the area, such as neighbouring trailer manufacturers.

Reasons to shop at Agra

Van Niekerk said Agra is the ideal one-stop shop.

"As a manager, I am proud to say that Agra is the preferred one-stop shop for many reasons. Firstly, we offer a wide range of products that cater to all your needs. From groceries to household items, electronics to clothing, and everything in between, we've got you covered. Our shelves are always stocked with high-quality products from reputable brands, ensuring that you get the best value for your money."

Secondly, he said Agra provides a convenient and hassle-free shopping experience.

"Our store is well-organised and easy to navigate, making it easy for you to find what you're looking for. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are always on hand to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have, ensuring that you have a pleasant shopping experience."

Van Niekerk said a third reason is competitive prices that are hard to beat.

"Our products are priced competitively, so you can be sure that you're getting the best value for your money. We also offer regular promotions and discounts, so you can save even more on your shopping."

He said Agra takes pride in its customer service experience.

"At Agra, we believe that our customers are our top priority, and we go above and beyond to ensure that they are satisfied with their shopping experience. Whether you need assistance with finding a product, making a payment, or returning an item, our team is always here to help."

Stay in touch

Van Niekerk said Agra offers customers frequent sales, and there are a variety of discounted items in the building warehouse on sale. "We have five different shelf talkers for the things that are currently on sale. There is thick roofing sheeting available on sale for N$250, as well as four different steel profiles that are currently on special too."

To keep up to date on the latest goods on sale, get hold of a brochure, follow them on Facebook, and check out their website as well.

If you really want to be informed, join their WhatsApp group because that is where the weekly specials are shared.

Van Niekerk recommended interested persons ask to be added to the group by sending him a message at 264 81 2927240. He said members will also be informed of various competitions.
