City of Windhoek calendar for the remainder of 2022
With the year slowly coming to a close, the City of Windhoek has released an exciting calendar of events and public engagement for the weeks to come.
These vary from sporting events to cultural and strategic engagements catering to all the city’s inhabitants.

1. Kasi Cup
The Kasi Cup is an annual sports tournament hosted by the City of Windhoek whereby the best sports teams in the informal settlements compete in various sports categories.

3. Windhoek City Museum Open Day Featuring Emergency and Disaster Risk Management
The Windhoek City Museum, through the Department of Economic Development, will host a one-day Emergency and Disaster Risk Management Day with the Division of Emergency and Disaster Risk Management. The aim of this day is to invite the general public and scholars to engage the emergency and disaster risk managers with the aim to educate the public and school-goers about emergencies, firefighting techniques and ways to mitigate natural and human disasters.

8. Windhoek Market Christmas Edition
The City of Windhoek will host a Christmas edition of the Windhoek Market. The main aim of the Windhoek Market is to stimulate the local economy, promote local products, and provide a platform that will serve as a temporary street-front retail space for small businesses and corporates to promote and sell their products and services.

Venue: Independence Avenue between Daniel Munamava and Fiedel Castro Streets down Post Street Mall and the Zoo Park.
9. Annual Mayoral Elder’s Luncheon
Every year, the Office of the Mayor hosts a luncheon to honour senior citizens from 10 Windhoek constituencies for all their hard work, dedication and commitment to the well-being of the country.

10. Children’s Memorial Wall
The City of Windhoek will participate in a Worldwide Candle Lighting Ceremony to honour children who have died before the age of 21, during the period of 2020 to 2022. The Worldwide Candle Lighting Ceremony is held in conjunction with compassionate friends and family in memory of the departed children on the second Sunday of December across the world. During the event, the City of Windhoek will unveil memorial plaques with the received names of departed children.
