Iréne-Mari van der Walt
Namibia’s Mr and Miss Supranational were crowned during a glamorous pageant in the capital city this weekend. A teary Romiley Hoffmann took the Miss Supra title, with Hilia Shinene and Milcah Mokandja crowned as the first and second princesses respectively. A jovial spirit reigned over the crowd as Namibia’s first Mr Supranational, Jean-Louis Knouwds, handed over his title to Malan van den Berg. Uche Anyanwu and Jacques van Zyl are the runners-up. The president of the global Miss Supranational organisation, Gerhard Parzutka von Lipinski, bestowed the prestigious Woman of Substance award on the outgoing Miss Supranational Namibia, Julita-Kitwe Mbangula. During her reign, Mbangula worked passionately toward bettering the lives of those around her as a medical doctor. Meanwhile, during his reign, Knouwds managed to clinch the Mr Supranational Africa title at the international pageant in Poland. Miss Supranational Namibia pageant director Willem Fourie also launched the From The Ground Up Foundation, through which winners will be able to execute their community development and upliftment projects.
