2024 matric farewell
007: James Bond
The matric farewell, held on 19 April this year at De Kayak Hall, was a prestigious event that every learner has looked forward to since the beginning of their St George's school journey.
From the detailed James Bond decor to special guests of the night, it was an absolute success! Matriculates dined on the finest of dishes, starting with scrumptious starters and moving on to the appetising entrees accompanied by world-class desserts. Joyous cheers and laughter filled the hall all around, as the group danced and sang the night away.
Diligent grade 11s dedicated countless hours to ensuring this magical milestone was done justice. Between elaborate planning, five-star serving and tedious clean-up, not a moment was spent freely.
“The matric farewell was everything I expected, to say the least. It was filled with moments of love, laughter and sadness. Words would fail to explain what the night with my friends meant to me,” head boy Cameron Fraser said.
The atmosphere was vibrant as we were lucky enough to watch a live ballroom dance, performed beautifully by the talented Lilian Jansen and Joseph Garoeb. Matric farewells are an important moment in every learner's life. They fully encapsulate the bittersweet feeling of being in your final year. You begin to grieve the familiar people and places you will lose, but long for the exciting changes life has to offer. As they embark on new stages of their lives, we hope our matriculants look back on their farewell and reminisce on all the memories.
