Global Shapers shaping the future

Junior Kapofi
Global Shapers Hub Windhoek held a youth engagement panel discussion yesterday at The Village in Windhoek. It was held under the theme 'social enterprises and start-ups for youth employment and socio-economic development'. The discussion was aimed at utilising social entrepreneurship to address youth unemployment and socio-economic challenges the youth face. The World Economic Forum's Global Shapers community is a group of young, dynamic people who are making a difference in their communities.

The non-profit organisation brought together industry experts, including Yango country manager CJ Dumeni, Impact Tank Namibia founder Elzine Mushambi, Basecamp Business Incubator director Jesaya Hano-Oshike and Old Mutual social responsibility consultant Mavis Elias to share their invaluable knowledge of sustainable entrepreneurship.

The event's main goal was to raise funds for the renovation of a school for differently-abled children. The Global Shapers Windhoek Hub raised N$7 000 in ticket sales, which Impact Tank Namibia generously matched. Unjombi Trading also contributed N$2 000 to the project. In total, the Global Shapers raised N$16 000.
