Indulging in a cultural festival
Saturday, 1 July, saw International School of Walvis Bay's annual food festival being hosted at the municipality grounds, and it was nothing short of a success.
The festivities started at 08:00 with a parade, during which learners showed off their traditional wear while singing and cheering. It started at the school and made its way through the centre of town, ending at the municipal grounds.
Each grade represented a country and its traditional food at a stall decorated accordingly. Equally enthusiastic learners, parents and teachers took part. There was an Indian stall that sold butter chicken, samosas and also offered henna art; a Portuguese stall that sold Prego rolls and custard tarts, to name but a few of the delicious treats you could buy.
The day was filled with a flurry of activity for everyone to enjoy. A jumping castle and games for young kids, a volleyball tournament and alcoholic beverages for the adults! All the visitors praised the school for hosting this very successful event.
The funds raised from this event will fund a new school bus.
