Jan Möhr celebrates Independence Day in honour of Geingob
Independence Day marks a significant national day to celebrate our country's freedom and to honour those who fought for it.
Jan Möhr Secondary School has always celebrated Independence Day to showcase the diversity of our different cultures.
This year, the 34th independence celebration was very different due to the loss of our former president, Dr Hage Gottfried Geingob. He was a significant influence on the entire nation of Namibia, and he will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Therefore, we celebrated this day in his honour.
Learners wore traditional clothes to represent their cultures and showcased cultural dances. Students also performed beautiful poems celebrating independence.
The teachers joined in as well and judged who the best-dressed participants were on the day.
They also answered questions based on their interpretations of what 34 years of independence mean to them.
