Shaheema Miller and Algero Weskopf were crowned Miss and Mr De Duine at a glamours event.
Shaheema Miller and Algero Weskopf recently walked away with the Miss and Mr De Duine crowns.
The duo emerged as the brightest shining stars of the highly anticipated beauty pageant, with 'The Slayers of Eden' as this year's theme. Both wowed the judges and the audience with their impeccable modelling skills and stage presence on a glamour- and style-filled evening.
Miller not only received the winning title but also earned the titles of Miss Photogenic and Viewers' Choice – demonstrating her wide appeal and captivating presence. She said she is truly honoured to be a representative of De Duine Secondary School.
“This experience has been incredible. Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this journey. I intend to use this platform to make a positive impact, and I look forward to using this platform to inspire my fellow peers”.
Weskop said: "Winning the Mr De Duine title caught me completely by surprise. It's been an unforgettable experience, and I look forward to using this platform to inspire my fellow peers."
Glamourous event
Nine girls and four boys competed for the coveted titles. Lamese Louw and Jaydee Olivier were named the first female and male runners-up, respectively, with Peru Scheffer and Neo Abrahams taking the third positions. Willemina Kavango was named Miss Personality.
Lucy Lukas, the event organiser, said she was exceptionally proud of all the participants. “The modelling competition was not just a showcase of fashion and style; it was a celebration of talent, personality, and individuality. This competition exemplifies the school's commitment to nurturing our students' diverse talents and fostering a culture of excellence.”
Lukas added that the winners were deserving. “They stood out and exhibited authenticity, confidence, and elegance in every round of the competition. This event not only showcased our students' talent but also highlighted the importance of self-expression and self-assurance.”
