Creative entrepreneur and radio personality Andeline Wieland (29) is making waves in Namibia's arts and entertainment sector.

Her career path has been shaped by a strong entrepreneurial drive and a love of creativity and innovation.

She holds degrees from Stellenbosh University: a BA in Drama and Theatre, a BA Honours in Journalism and a BCom Honours in Marketing.

When Wieland was a college student, she got her first taste of entrepreneurship by selling handcrafted jewellery on campus to raise money for a professional model portfolio shoot.

Ten years later, Wieland runs The Snow White Project, a fashion company that creates custom gowns and rents out formal, cocktail, and costume attire.

“I own the business outright and am so proud of what it has become today,” she said.

In addition, she is the co-owner of Southern X Studio, a photography and media studio that she runs with her fiance, Kris Barnard. Her portfolio also includes businesses like Untold Jewellery, Desert Glow Luxury Spray Tan and Southern X Hair and Makeup, each adding layers to her entrepreneurial repertoire.

Inspired business model

Wieland's passions have always centred around creativity. Her love of the arts is evident in everything she does, from designing unique gowns to making costume jewellery and photographic styling.

Moreover, her lively personality is showcased to listeners every morning as a radio host on Radiowave's 'The Breakfast Lab', proving her versatility in the entertainment sector. Despite her cheerful personality on radio, Wieland describes herself as an introvert and a homebody.

As a self-confessed workaholic, she says one of her toughest challenges has been learning to delegate responsibilities.

At first, her perfectionism made it hard for her to let go of control, but in recent years, she has assembled a team that helps her run her businesses more efficiently.

Her strategic business approach is modelled after Warren Buffet's practice of reinvesting profits into other ventures. This has allowed her to grow her businesses, even if she still faces financial challenges in her entrepreneurial pursuits.

‘Remain humble’

Through The Snow White Project, Wieland has also embraced her passion for giving back. The charity initiative sponsors underprivileged girls with formal dresses for their matric farewells and supports local causes close to her heart.

As she continues to grow her ventures, Wieland is gearing up for her next big step, launching a suits section in her fashion business. Her advice for fellow entrepreneurs is simple: “Find a niche, a gap. And be constant and persistent. This country rewards consistency. Treat every client with the same magical experience and respect."

She also advised not to "loan money unless you are 100% sure you can make it back. Get help if you don't know how to do something. And most importantly, remain humble."
