Enhancing communication strategies
Mufaro Nesongano recently stepped into his new position as executive of communication and consumer relations at CRAN.
Mufaro Nesongano’s passion for communication, customer relations and regulatory standards led him to his new position at the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), where he officially assumed the role of executive communication and consumer relations on 20 March.
Nesongano’s love for the communications sector is backed up by his dynamic career path over the past two decades. He started as a broadcaster and then transitioned into leadership roles in the public relations and communications sectors.
Nesongano served in positions such as acting station manager at Base FM, online media, communication and sponsorship manager at Namibia Wildlife Resort (NWR), as well as group communication and foundation manager at Old Mutual.
Contributing to growth
Nesongano said the position at CRAN aligns perfectly with his passion for communication, consumer relations and regulatory standards. He said the opportunity to oversee communication efforts, manage stakeholder relationships and promote organisational objectives motivated him to apply for the position.
“Having spent a decade within the broadcasting space at the start of my career, it was great to finally understand the other side of the regulatory space,” he said.
Nesongano hopes to enhance communication strategies, foster positive relationships with stakeholders and consumers and ensure compliance with regulatory standards at CRAN.
“My aim is to contribute to the organisation’s growth and effectiveness while promoting transparency and accountability in communication practices."
According to CRAN, Nesongano will drive the development and execution of strategic plans and annual programmes while ensuring effective coordination and implementation of stakeholder communication, public relations and consumer engagement activities.
Leading by example
Nesongano holds a master’s degree in journalism and media technology, an honour's degree in journalism and communication, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication. He is also a certified executive and management coach, with various professional certifications.
Integrity, professionalism and continuous improvement are the mottos Nesongano lives by. “I believe in transparent communication, ethical conduct and leading by example. My motto emphasises the importance of accountability and excellence in all endeavours,” he said.
Nesongano said the best advice he can offer to aspiring youth is to “remain dedicated to your goals, pursue continuous learning and growth and embrace challenges as opportunities for development.”
