Nedbank Kapana Cook-Off winner launches food truck
Exciting new chapter begins for Ester Silas
Ester Silas, this year's Nedbank Kapana Cook-Off competition winner, has opened her mobile food trailer to serve her community with delicious dishes.
The 2023 Nedbank Kapana Cook-Off competition winner, Ester Silas, has officially opened her fast food business just one month after walking away with the grand prize of the mobile food trailer at the cook-off competition final.
The 27-year-old Silas, who is based in the Greenwell Matongo suburb of Katutura, in Windhoek, has stationed her mobile food truck, valued at N$100 000, at her residence, where she hopes to cater to her community members.
Hard work, big dreams
On Saturday, 30 September, Silas officially opened her business to an audience made up of friends, family and community members.
At the opening, she said she was excited for this new chapter in her life.
“I will work every day to have a menu that carries a selection of food to cater to people who have different food choices. As I am still new to the market, I am aware that this will be an intense job. I also plan on hiring someone to assist me on busy days and after hours,” she said.
She added: “We are a lot in the food business, so I need to push hard to get my name out there. I will employ the use of different channels to market my business to the people.”
Nedbank Namibia communication and public relations manager, Selma Kaulinge, praised Silas for taking initiative and starting her own business.
