Tuhafeni Nakamela has set out on a journey to provide Namibians with unique local wear at an affordable price.

In his search to build a community based on inspiration and positivity, the young and vibrant Tuhafeni Nakamela founded WeMove in 2020. The motivated movement promotes a healthy and active lifestyle through clothing across the country. An engineering student at José Eduardo dos Santos campus, Nakamela said he founded the brand to introduce a new authentic design that is different from other local brands.



Reducing youth unemployment

He has so far hired three brand ambassadors and four sales representatives to help promote their mandate, he said. WeMove boasts cutting-edge designs and unique and high-quality functional wear that is set apart from other local wear.

Employing innovation, he said he offers clothing customers can wear freely and confidently at an affordable price.

In future, they plan on collaborating with sports and fitness programmes to help reach a wider audience. He said collaborating with designers, other brands and influencers to create new products and reach new audiences is also in the pipeline.

“I am also open to collaborating with sponsors to contribute to social events, empower the youth and give back to the community”.



Roles and accomplishments

As the sole owner and founder of the WeMove clothing brand and WeMove Printing, Nakamela ensures all sales are conducted in a timely manner, and correctly. He comes up with new designs and ideas to promote the brand and maintain its good reputation. He is also constantly on the lookout for new representatives and ambassadors to help his business grow.

Nakamela said some of his accomplishments with WeMove include creating a recognised name in the clothing brand market; generating a high sales volume throughout operations; attracting over 10 000 Instagram followers; diversifying the brand throughout Namibia; providing a positive social impact by rendering quality affordable products and adding to youth employment by providing jobs.



The secret recipe

When asked what has caused his large Instagram following, the CEO said: “Some of the secrets that led to us acquiring a copious number of followers on social media is being active and always making sure we provide quality content on our page. We constantly join collaborations with other content creators and do promotions and giveaways to our followers. Maintaining a good relationship and engaging your followers is another important thing to consider,” he said.

“Starting a clothing brand can be challenging, but it is a rewarding journey that offers numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth. It also grants financial independence, while making a positive impact on the world.”
