Dazzling Carmine Bee-Eater Colony
Take the time to marvel at a colony of Carmine Bee-Eaters when on a trip to Zambezi Region! Caprivi Mutoya Lodge, nestled on the banks of the Zambezi Backwaters, is a bird lover’s paradise. Each season brings a different flock of migratory birds to photograph and view – during the months from August to November, the Southern Carmine Bee-Eater can be found en-mass, burrowing nests up to 2 meters in depth below the dry riverbanks of the Zambezi River, before migrating to Southern Africa and then back to the rainforests further north. With its dazzling fuchsia and blue feathers on full display, a glimpse of a carmine Bee-Eater colony is an experience of a lifetime!
