Fuel for mining
Shell diesel design responds to mining needs

In mining, productivity is paramount and running large-scale operations requires reliable and efficient equipment.
Whether underground or above, it’s vital to make the most of machinery, to increase productivity and to drive operating costs down, according to Vivo Energy Namibia.
On 27 February, Vivo Energy Namibia brought Shell’s new FuelSave Diesel with DynaFlex Technology to Namibia for exactly this reason.
“Evolving and more precise diesel engine technologies require even better control on injector deposits in order to minimise efficiency losses. That is why the new Shell FuelSave Diesel has been specially formulated with DynaFlex technology, Shell’s exclusive dual detergent technology that works in both newer and older engine technologies.
“With its most advanced formula, it helps clean the engine of injector deposits to provide better fuel economy,” Vivo said.
Better fuel economy
New Shell FuelSave Diesel is designed to help provide better fuel economy and therefore helps lower operating costs.
It helps improve oxidation stability and keeps fuel more stable in presence of bio components. It is designed to help with the use of fuels with bio components and reduce risk of fuel degradation and sludge build-up, therefore helping improve equipment reliability.
Shell is constantly evolving its fuel products in line with modern vehicle engine innovations as well as shifting customer needs.
This latest formulation, which is now available at all Shell service stations in Namibia, is the result of intensive research, development and extensive testing over a period of more than five years, by Shell’s international team of fuels scientists.
Customers at the heart
Speaking during the launch of the new range of fuels, Vivo Energy Namibia managing director Edward Walugembe emphasised the drive the organisation has to constantly offer its customers the very best at Shell service stations.
“We place customers at the heart of everything we do, and we aim to make their life’s journeys better. New Shell FuelSave Diesel with DynaFlex technology helps to clean and protect car engines, making them more efficient. This most advanced Diesel is available at any of our 64 Shell sites in Namibia and available to our commercial customers.
“We believe it is not just where you go, but also how you go that matters,” he said.
Mines and energy minister Tom Alweendo, in his keynote address at the occasion, said Vivo Energy Namibia plays a part in meeting the demand for fuel products that drive mobility and industry in the country. He urged the private sector to continue to drive innovation and product differentiation, which eventually creates value for the customer in this fully regulated market.
“I welcome this new Shell FuelSave Diesel with DynaFlex technology as a petroleum product in our market and hope that it becomes a benchmark for quality and excellence in our downstream energy market place,” he said.
Vivo Energy Namibia has distributed and marketed Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Namibia since it was established in October 2012. The Shell brand has been in Namibia since 1975. Vivo Energy Namibia has a fuel storage capacity of 7 718 m³ and operates 64 service stations, with many offering Shell cards and convenience retail stores.
Vivo Energy Namibia employs around 78 permanent employees.
