George W. Bush besucht Krankenhaus
Windhoek (ste) - Alt-Präsident George W. Bush hat zusammen mit seiner Frau Laura heute Vormittag erst die Ella-du-Plessis-Schule und mittags das Windhoeker Staatskrankenhaus besucht. Das sogenannte Presidents’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) war in der Amtszeit von Bush gegründet worden und entsprang einer Idee seiner späteren Außenministerin Condoleezza Rice und Bush selbst. Laura Bush wurde als First Lady bald die treibende Kraft und bis heute unterstützt die Bush-Stiftung die Bekämpfung von Armut und Sexual-Krankheiten in Afrika Diese Unterstützung hat sich auf de\ie Behandlung des Gebärmutterhals-Krebs ausgeweitet. Gesundheitsminister Bernhard Haufiku zeigte sich im Krankenhaus als souveräner Gastgeber und wurde dabei von der namibischen Präsidentengemahlin, Monica Geingos, die als First-Lady Teil der Pink-Ribbon-Red-Ribbon-Initiative ist, unterstützt.
