Lieber anpflanzen

Oshakati - Anstatt abzuholzen sollen Namibier lieber Bäume pflanzen. Diesen Aufruf richtet Präsident Nujoma an die Nation.

Der Präsident besuchte am Freitag die Ondjondjo Baumschule bei Ondangwa, die durch die nichtstaatliche Organisation "Bäume für Menschen" - Trees for the World - betrieben wird und unter der Leitung von Martina Kütter steht. "Wir müssen die Vernichtung der Vegetation wieder gutmachen", sagte Nujoma. "Ich rufe die Führer der ländlichen Gemeinden und der Ortschaften dazu auf, den Weg durch die Anpflanzung von Bäumen anzuzeigen und dem destruktiven Abholzen entgegenzuwirken."

Der Stadtrat von Ondangwa, vertreten durch Bürgermeister Otto Kapia, hat dem "Bäume für Menschen"-Projekt vor drei Jahren ein Grundstück für eine Baumschule zur Verfügung gestellt.
