Maerua Mall hosts Homemakers Expo

Fun, furnishing and your future home

Given the change in the times, Saturdays spent shopping have now become quick pre-planned store-runs, with many trying their best to minimise contact with the outside world as much as possible.

In an effort to enhance their retail and lifestyle experience, Oryx Properties, the proprietors and operators of the landmark Maerua Mall, held a first-of-its-kind Homemakers Expo where mall tenants, private businesses, artists and the country’s premiere property developers were given the platform to market their offerings and engage an eager public.

Hosting homemakers

“We really wanted to do something new and exciting to give our visitors and exhibitors the opportunity to mix, mingle and experience the latest property and lifestyle products and developments in the country in fun and engaging manner,” Cherien Simataa, sales and promotions assistant at Oryx Properties Limited, said.

Visitors to the expo got to experience the latest products by Namibia’s leading furnishers such Nictus, who exhibited their Smeg and Landmann range of kitchenware, crockery and the latest in outdoor braais. CLW showed off their range of cupboards, beds and more, while Capri Exclusive Homeware, Modern Vintage Décor and Interiors, Mega Health Pillows and House & Home offered their beautiful ranges of furniture, décor and homeware.

Artist Ndako Nghipandulwa made a bold statement with his hyper-realistic artworks, the main exhibit of which was a huge, N$100 000 nail-and-string composition which took him two and a half months to complete.

The team from Ongos Valley was also in attendance to market their new development and share information about their groundbreaking Rent-to-Own project, while the Windhoek waterfront development at Goreagab Dam also took the opportunity to show off its unique lifestyle development to potential clientele.

After visiting the Light Systems Namibia stand, and finding out more about how you can easily absorb the capital costs of harnessing solar power for your home, many of the visitors to the expo popped by the @Home pop-up store to enjoy some stunning coffee in their beautiful experiential showroom.

“It’s wonderful to once again be able to engage potential clientele, and show off our custom-made furniture. We even get the opportunity to share ideas and take inspiration from one another, so the Homemakers Expo was definitely a great success and we look forward to more engagements like this,” Saarty from Windhoek Interiors said. The company just opened their new physical store at Windhoek’s Hyper Motor City.

Give-aways and that golden parking ticket

Not only do visitors to Maerua Mall enjoy 90 minutes of free parking, but there’s always a chance of walking away with something unique and - who knows - even winning incredible prizes.

“We had something for everyone, so whether you’re in the market for property, décor or furnishings, we have it all. We look forward to host more of these types of events in future where we can bridge the gap between industry players, the public and our tenants who can benefit from the increased footfall, thanks to events like the expo,” Simataa boasted.

“We also had some very exciting give-aways over the weekend, where clients could win a homemaker hamper or a range of other exciting prizes, but as everyone knows when you shop at Maerua Mall, you’re already a winner,” she added.
