Matjila ersetzt

Windhoek - Das Kabinett hat Ende vergangener Woche Glynis Beukes-Kapa als neues Mitglied der Namibia Filmkommission bestätigt. Beukes ersetzt als Vertreterin der Filmmakers Association of Namibia (FAN) Vicky Matjila, die auf Grund von Fehlverhalten von der Kommission entlassen wurde.

Von FAN wurden drei Kandidaten für einen Sitz auf der Kommission vorgeschlagen: Jackson Swartz, Michaela Bauer und Beukes-Kapa.

Gegen Matjila, Tochter des ehemaligen DTA-Parlamentariers Andrew Matjila, läuft derzeit ein Verfahren, bei dem ihr vorgeworfen wird, einen einwöchigen Aufenthalt im Kalahari Sands Hotel nicht bezahlt zu haben. Die Rechnung hierfür beträgt über 12 000 Namibia-Dollar. Angeblich hatte sie angegeben, dass die staatliche Filmkommission für den Betrag aufkommen werde.

Matjilas Fall soll am 9. April im Windhoeker Magistratsgericht verhandelt werden.
