Mayor`s Message
On the occasion of the 20 years of sister cities relationship between Windhoek and Berlin, I would like to use this opportunity on behalf of the residents of Windhoek, to extend our sincere greetings and congratulatory message to our long-time friends in the City of Berlin. We are thrilled to note that the Windhoek-Berlin partnership has not only been confined to the city’s halls, but have reached a broader spectrum of our respective societies through various community-based projects.
As we have done before, we continue to ensure effective consultation and engagement across various levels of our communities. Our success should be built on a strong spirit of mutual respect and trust; and a productive sister cities relationship. We have learnt a lot from each other and tapped in value adding experiences, which enriched the friendship between the two cities.
We also recognize that we are part of the global movement of the United Nations` Agenda 2030 and pledge ourselves to working towards sustainable urban development in the years to come. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect cities and populations across the world, and with subnational governments at the forefront of the response, we at the City of Windhoek would like to express our solidarity during this current global crisis. It is my hope that this partnership will grow from strength to strength and contribute to the development in our respective cities and countries in general.
