Political analyst
Ndumba Kamwanyah
A political analyst is a person who analyzes and forecast political and social and economic trends.
The responsibility of an analyst is to ensure that he/she analyzes, interprets and predicts events/issues objectively. Therefore, the duty of an analyst is to interpret the world , so that others can deduce meaning from such analysis or information
Ndumba Kamwanyah is a part time political analyst and commentator and a full time deputy director for the centre for professional development, teaching and learning improvement at Unam.
“Well, this is not a full-time job (though sometimes it feels like because one is in demand from journalists and media house to provide analysis) but I do it because I am passionate about issues affecting our country. That's my small contribution to make Namibia and the world a better place for everybody. I should also say that I don't see myself as a political analyst but rather a social commentator or a storyteller” says Kamwanyah.
The character traits that is needed is being observant, good research and analytical skills, a sharp mind to synthesize and conceptualize complex ideas, and must be a follower of current events, and of course it requires that you must be an avid reader and a writer.
“During the day, i focus my attention to my full-time job, which is lecturing and professional development for academics. So I do a lot of class preparation, markings, preparing training materials, develop policies, researching on best practices in teaching and learning, and meetings. I do most of my writing and reading at night. But of course being an analyst, you can't avoid being called or contacted by journalists to field/answer questions any time, day and night” he says.
