Responsible Tourism Award Tour Operator Finalists - Abenteuer Afrika - 2018

Abenteuer Afrika Safari

Abenteuer Afrika believes that visiting Namibia provides a unique wellness to the soul. This is the secret for attracting first-time visitors on an annual basis as well as causing many of these tourists to fall in love with Namibia and come back time after time.

While guests can focus on enjoying this wellness experience, Abenteuer takes care of everything else. Whether visitors are travelling with a friend or as part of a group of 100 persons, Abenteuer is able to easily arrange the entire itinerary, from arrival to departure and everything else required in-between no matter how challenging the request might be.

“We don’t try and specialise in everything ourselves. Instead we support local businesses that have invested in the Country and have become experts in their fields. As a consequence, we deliver the most specialized guides and itinerary that Namibia has to offer when a client wants something specialized or specific, like fly-fishing, or birding”, says Dianne Orbanne from Abenteuer.

Orbanne knows that from Abenteur it is a huge supporter of Tourism Organisations Supporting Conservation (TOSCO) a non-profit organization linking the tourism industry to local people, conservation organizations and research. By supporting conservation projects and local people who share their land with wildlife, TOSCO Trust contributes to safeguarding Namibia’s natural assets.

“Because we live and operate out of a big town, we like to ensure the health and wellbeing of our town. Our conservation efforts are therefore more social responsibility efforts,” says Orbanne.

According to her Abenteur also supports various learners and ensures that that they have access to basic needs such food, water, shelter, so that they can successfully complete their school career.

Accorsing to her sport is an integral part of a learner’s welfare and therefore they also identify talented gymnasts, field hockey players, to name but a few and assist where necessary. “We are strong believers in supporting SME’s and give start-up funding to eager entrepreneurs.”

Orbanne adds that the employees of Abenteuer deserve all the credit for driving the company’s social responsibility projects.

“There is an orphanage in the DRC settlement area in Swakopmund called Tears of Hope, run by a lovely “angel” called Naphtaline. The employees make sure that she has as much support as they can give her, which enables her to feed and clothe the orphans in her care.”

The employees also heed the calls of the SPCA where possible for food and blankets for the unwanted pets that land up at the SPCA. “Because we are so proud of our staff taking these initiatives, of course Abenteuer then matches all funds collected.”

Abenteur also hosts a venue for the Namibian Blood Transfusion Services, in the hopes that more people will donate blood.
