Responsible Tourism Award Tour Operator Finalists - Wild Dog Safaris - 2018
Wild Dog Safaris
Specialising in camping tours, Wild Dog Safaris is undeniably the right way to see Namibia for those, who are more adventure-minded. With 20 years of experience in the field, guests are assured of an unforgettable experience during their visit to Namibia.
These tours are a great way in which Namibia can be experienced and visitors are advised to book one or more of the scheduled tours on offer in order to visit some of the best spots of Namibia, while remaining in the care of an experienced guide. If travelling in a group is not your forte, Wild Dog Safaris will create a private itinerary specially designed to suit your needs and desires.
Being an active tourism-industry partaker, Wild Dog Safaris supports conservancies throughout the country by visiting their tourist attractions and making use of their accommodation facilities while on tour. It supports AfriCat Foundation, the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), the Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust (NaDEET) and Gobabeb Research and Training Centre by integrating these centres into its tours.
Apart from that, Wild Dog Safaris is involved with the non-profit organization registered under the name of “Tourism Organisations Supporting Conservation”. The TOSCO Trust contributes towards safeguarding Namibia’s natural assets by linking the tourism industry to local people, who amongst other share their land with Namibia’s wildlife, as well as being involved with conservation organizations and -projects, and even supporting research.
The AfriCat Foundation is found on the 22 000 ha, known as the privately-owned Okonjima Nature Reserve, about 50 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo in central Namibia. The Foundation strives towards the long term survival of Namibia’s predators in their natural habitat. Meanwhile the CCF is the world’s leading organization dedicated towards saving the cheetah and ensuring its survival in the wild.
NaDEET is a non-profit organization inviting schools, youths and educators to attend its environmental learning programme while participating in a unique hands-on experience in the desert’s harsh environment. The safari operator also supports the internationally renowned and reputable Gobabeb Desert Research Station, which conducts research in the world's oldest desert: the Namib Desert in Namibia.
Wild Dog Safaris’ support extends to the north-eastern and eastern parts of Namibia, where it specifically also supports the Bushman program known as “Uuakii Wilderness”.
