To be alive is a grand thing
As one who uses words, paragraphs, sentences to secure my daily bread, one of my most favourite quotes is borrowed from someone who achieved world wide claim for amongst others her mystery and crime novels which of course some were also turned into movies. Agatha Christie was a great writer who turned granny tales and social gossips into thrilling mysteries. One of her quotes who sums up life in all its beautiful cruelty and beauty is this: “I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.”
Maybe that is what life is really about, maybe that is what we all have been missing. To find that one thing of grandeur, that one person, feeling, happening, habit or belief that makes sense of the madness or that, if only for a brief glimpse, to be totally in this thing called life.
Whether it is looking up at the sky and mapping the stars, finding solace and healing between rocks and endless plains, creating a place of calm and serenity in memory of a beloved daughter, swinging fireballs feeling like a warrior and finding hope and light in the deepest of darkness. Most of the time what you seek most, is found in yourself. Yet again those interviewed inspire, bring hope and the knowledge that sometimes it truely is as easy to get back on that Harley, taking the long and winding road, touching a star and swinging a fire ball.
