Livestock producers in the Zambezi Region have the opportunity to submit bids to the Meat Board of Namibia today and tomorrow for 23 Brahman and Simmental cross-bred cows available for sale.

According to the Meat Board, the animals are in good condition and were procured at an auction at Grootfontein earlier this year after being part of a research project in the Zambezi Region.

The Meat Board said bidding will be handled through sealed quotations but noted that it has instituted a reserve price of N$10 000 per animal.

The procurement process will start off with the viewing of the cattle at Kopano Quarantine Camp on 31 July.

Bidding process

Bids can be submitted as of today (08:00 to 17:00) and tomorrow (08:00 to 12:00) at the office of the Meat Board at the agriculture ministry’s building in Katima Mulilo.

"A dedicated tender box will be provided where sealed quotations are to be deposited. Bids must clearly state the number of cattle and the respective price per animal."

The bids will be opened tomorrow at 14:00 at the agriculture ministry’s office in Katima Mulilo, and all applicants are required to attend the opening of the sealed quotations.

Cattle will be loaded on 7 August at the Kopano Quarantine Camp at their own risk; however, the Meat Board stressed that no cattle will be loaded unless payments reflect on its bank statement.
