The Namibia Football Association announced on Tuesday that all football leagues under their administration will commence on 30 November. The decision comes just days after it was revealed that the Debmarine Namibia Premiership will start on 29 November.

"The (NFA) wishes to inform all football stakeholders and the public that all NFA leagues will officially kick off on Saturday, 30 November 2024, except for the Debmarine Premiership, which will kick off on 29 November 2024," the statement reads.

The FNB Women's Super League, North West First Division, and all regional leagues will see action by the end of this month. The association is therefore urging all clubs in the various leagues to complete their final preparations for the start of the season.

The NFA also announced an extension of the registration period to 9 December, giving clubs additional time to secure any players they may need for the 2024/25 football season.

"We also urge the media to continue capturing, writing, and producing quality stories that will help elevate Namibian football to greater heights," said League Director Mabos Vries.

The start of football in the country comes after Namibia has faced difficulties in initiating its leagues, while other countries have already begun their seasons. This delay has become a recurring trend in Namibia, where football leagues often rank among the last to start worldwide. This has frequently been due to uncertainty and a lack of sponsorship that has plagued Namibian football over the years.

"Football is a community sport, and the NFA invites all small and medium enterprises to bring their offerings to the various stadiums around the country, selling delicious food and beverages to boost economic growth and development," the NFA writes.

Football fans have welcomed the news, thanking the association for giving them the opportunity to finally enjoy watching football again.

"I was worried for the past couple of months because there was really no indication of where we were headed, but I’m grateful that we’ll be able to watch football again," said football fan Mike January.
