Die 16-jarige Ansuné Smith van Windhoek het die afgelope naweek in Potchefstroom, Suid-Afrika, aan die NWU-Pukke Top-30 atletiekbyeenkoms deelgeneem en uitsonderlik goed gevaar.

Sy het in hamergooi vir meisies onder-16 met ‘n afstand van 50.05 meter gepresteer en ‘n silwermedalje opgeraap.

Ansuné, oorspronklik van Keetmanshoop, is tans ‘n leerling by Windhoek Gimnasium. Sy het in Januarie 2022 by die Vineta-stadion, Swakopmund, aan haar eerste kompetisie in hamergooi deelgeneem waar sy met ‘n beste poging van 29 meter begin het.

Haar 50.05 meter met die 3 kilogram hamer is só goed dat sy derde in die o.17-afdeling by dié kompetisie sou geëindig het. Meisies gooi eers vanaf 18-jarige ouderdom met ‘n 4 kg-hamer.
