West Indies vs New Zealand
Co-hosts West Indies’ Group C match against New Zealand (starting 02:30am on Thursday, Namibian time) is evenly important for both teams.
The Windies are second in Group C with four points after two matches, while New Zealand trail behind with zero after one loss to Afghanistan.
If the hosts can overpower the Kiwis, they will be well positioned with 6 points to finish top of their group. However, the current group leader Afghanistan with 4 points after 2 matches, also has an excellent nett run-rate of 5.225, while the Windies are on 3.574.
The Windies have been assigned a winning probability of 61 percent as favourites against New Zealand (39%).
Uganda and Papua New Guinea are basically out of contention for the Super 8 Stage. If the Kiwis falter, they will join these two on their way home.
Bangladesh vs Netherlands
Bangladesh’s clash against the Netherlands in Group D should be an epic battle (starting 04:30 Thursday, Namibian time).
Both teams are on 2 points after two losses. The winner between these two will most probably have the upper hand in second place in the group behind South Africa.
Bangladesh’s last remaining match should be an “easy” outing against Nepal, while the Netherlands will face Sri Lanka. The underperforming Sri Lankans are last in their group with two losses from two games.
Sri Lanka and Nepal are probably not going to advance to the Super 8 phase.
Winning probability: Bangladesh (73%), Netherlands (27%).
England vs Oman
Oman will have a point to prove against the under-pressure defending title holders. It will count in Namibia’s favour if Oman can beat Jos Buttler’s men.
Both Oman and England have yet to win a game. Oman with three losses are at the bottom of Group B with 0 points, while England with one point (2 games) is in fourth place.
Australia (6 points), Scotland (5) and Namibia (2) are in the first three spots respectively.
Winning probability: England (96%), Oman (4%).
