Eagles and Scotland resume hostility

The potential match winning individuals on each side will look to land decisive blows when ICC associate nations Namibia and Scotland clash at the T20 World Cup in Bridgetown, Barbados, tonight (starts 21:00 Namibian time).
Gerhard Erasmus’ Eagles opened their campaign with a drama-filled Super Over win against Oman, after the initial tie at 109 runs each.
Since Tuesday evening’s rained-out showdown between England and Scotland lasted only ten overs before being abandoned, not much could be learned from it. Both teams earned one log point.
Scotland’s openers George Munsey and Michael Jones, scored 90/0 in ten overs. Munsey (41 off 31 balls, 4x4, 2x6) and Jones (45 off 30, 4x4, 2x6) did not appear much bothered by the English pace attack.
Based on Munsey and Jones’ batting display, the duo are capable make Namibia’s outing difficult tonight.
Scotland also have Brandon McMullen, captain Richie Berrington and wicketkeeper Matthew Cross to bat from numbers three to five.
In spin bowler Mark Watt, Scotland have a potential match winner. The Eagles batsmen are not particularly known for their ability to successfully deal with spinners.
Scotland may possibly use Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Watt, Chris Sole, Brad Wheal and Bradley Currie again from batting positions 6 to 11 against Namibia.
Scotland’s XI against England was loaded with seamers. It will be a surprise if spinner Safyaan Sharif is included against the Eagles.
The coin toss could be a decisive factor. Scotland will not only have memories of Ruben Trumpelmann’s three wickets in his first over against them in their 2021 T20 World Cup encounter – but also that he followed it up with two first-over wickets against Oman last Sunday night on his way to his best T20i figures of 4/21.
