Eagles prepare for two big guns

The Namibians know it does not get any easier from here on.
The Namibia Eagles will regroup and reaffirm their determination of delivering the upsets they have become known for at the ICC T20 World Cup, despite the disappointment of Thursday night’s loss to Scotland in Barbados.
Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus scored 52 off 31 balls before getting stumped, as Namibia posted 155 for nine in their 20 overs. However, the Scotland team restricted them from achieving the acceleration in run rate they were striving for.
Player of the match Michael Leask hit four sixes in his 17-ball innings of 35 not out, which took the later overs out of the Eagles’ hands. Scotland stormed to a win by five wickets, their first-ever against Namibia in a T20 international.
In an interview with our team in Barbados, Erasmus said: “I felt were ahead during most stages of the game. In our batting innings we could have put a finish on it for maybe another ten runs or so, but I felt we had a competitive total to defend on the pitch. I would have backed our bowlers under the circumstances, but unfortunately a bit of a lapse in the execution of our skills while bowling and fielding allowed Scotland to transfer the pressure unto us.
“There are more opportunities in this tournament to come back and show our development. We have played two World Cups before and we’ve gotten the sense of belonging among these big teams. Believing you can win goes a long way in how you perform against these teams. We’ve beaten Sri Lanka before and we’ve run Pakistan and some of the other test nations close.
“We would love to see more squad members putting their hands up in their roles and show that they can make a name for themselves.”
Erasmus says the Namibians would have to be mentally ready to face the pressure and tempo head-on if they wish to overturn the two Group B big guns Australia or England.
