Nikanor Nangolo
The Namibia Rugby Union's first division and women's league continued on Saturday in Walvis Bay.

Kudus Rugby Club 3 defeated Sparta 1 by 71-0 in an entertaining first-league rugby division match at the Jan Wilken Stadium.

Kudus established a 24–0 lead in the tenth minute of the game and continued applying pressure. Sparta launched numerous attempts in search of a try but couldn’t break through Kudus’ stubborn defence.

During the second half, Kudus continued to launch well-orchestrated efforts, extending their lead even further until they clinched the win. Kudus scored eleven tries and converted eight.

Strong game

Kudus fullback Irongwa Atshivudhi, rightwing Algirnon Kolz, leftwing Jaco Lootz, number eight Ernesto Bampton, open side flanker William Lottering, second-row Thiaan Arangies, and hooker Zwandre Viviers each scored one try, while right lock Tersuis Arangies scored three tries. Flyhalf Ulriato Lawrence Shoombe scored eight conversions.

Fun match

Kudus captain Viviers said it was a fun match.

"It was a high-scoring match, and we had fun. It was also a critical win for Kudus Three to be in contention for the first-division quarter-finals. We took a step in the right direction to reach the destination we want to arrive at," he said. Viviers added that despite their impressive 71-0 win against Sparta 1, the team "still has a lot of work to do as we approach the final rounds of the competition".

Goals galore

Trustco United Rugby Club defeated Oceans Rugby Club with an impressive 71-0 score in an entertaining women's league match. Trustco scored 11 tries with eight conversions. Oceans put on a decent performance but unfortunately didn't manage to score any points.

United’s full-back Rpberta Fabio, leftwing Richardine Gaya, and left-flanker Fulchen Bock displayed impressive performances. They each scored two tries. Outside centre Natalie Wilhelm, inside centre Tishina Basson, scrumhalf Mbitjita Matuzee, right-flanker Rhevonne de Klerk and hooker Esmeralda Fuchs each converted one try. Fly-half Michelle Slinger scored eight conversions.

United’s captain, Geraldine Louw, said it was a good game. "We try to improve on each game that we play. Today we really came out as a team and had a good game. Our next match will be against Kudus, and all we can say is that we’re taking each game one step at a time".
