The chess community was once again privileged to benefit from the International Chess Federation's (FIDE) generous donation of chess equipment to developing countries that participated in the World Chess Olympiad in Budapest.
Namibia Chess Federation (NCF) vice-president Emmanuel Sihlahla announced on Monday that NCF president Goodwill Khoa and secretary-general Lloyd Diën brought back the equipment.
“Goodwill and Diën made sure the equipment, including eight electronic DGT sets (boards, pieces and clocks), 14 new DGT 3000 clocks and four older clocks, arrived safely. They deserve praise for such a noble act,” Sihlahla said.
“We remain committed to expanding our federation's chess equipment.
"Next, we will announce another donation from a generous sponsor. From today, we plan to use the electronic DGT boards for all premier league games.”
