The Namibian squad is setting its sights on reaching the junior World Cup.
Netball Namibia held the Under-21 trials in the capital over the weekend to select a squad that will compete at the Under-21 World Cup qualifiers in Pretoria, South Africa, from 14 to 24 March.
A squad of 15 players was selected, and a training camp will take place in preparation for competition.
Head coach Jones Musambani said the finals were successful. "The trials were very active, this time around we thought players would be unfit, but they gave us a surprise. So we had a tough task to select the team. No one will be happy but that’s the task we have to deal with as coaches. Furthermore we now just wait to camp to get ready for Pretoria,’’ he said.
Here is the selected squad:
Cheree Brits, Godlove Victor, Loide Kanyolo, Athiella Mbaha, Uapandera Muundjua, Marne du Toit, Aila Andreas, Elizabeth Besser, Hope Kazondovi, Rosa Gowases, Grace Matyayi, Muhimise Jaepa, Tjikarerera Uamburu, Usuta Muvangua, Desdamona Tjirera and Megan von Lieres.
The backroom staff are Jones Musambani (head coach), Vijanda Kamberipa (assistant coach), David Tutaleni (assistant coach) and Rudolf Namaseb (strength and conditioning coach.
