The mayor of Khorixas, Patience Hoaes, is inviting all Namibians to the town for a mayoral football tournament taking place this weekend.
The tournament will see teams from the town and surrounding areas battling it out for a trophy and medals at the town’s sport stadium.
“I can confirm that everything is in place for the tournament to start and the town is ready to host this big event.
“I am therefore inviting all football enthusiasts and all Namibians to come and witness this important tournament at our lovely town.
“This event is not only meant to entertain the people of Khorixas, but is for anyone who wants to enjoy and watch the cream of football,” Hoaes said.
The tournament was initially created in order to boost the town’s business sector as well as the sports fraternity.
It is one of the key strategies the mayor believes will keep people away from potentially harmful activities as they will have something enjoyable to watch and keep themselves busy with.
The mayor is also optimistic that the tournament will provide a boost to local vendors as they will have the opportunity to sell their products at the stadium.
“This tournament is for the people to be able to sell their things at the stadium and generate income for their homesteads.
“It also helps keep many entertained during a weekend and to give the members of the community something to cheer about.
“I can also add that the security at the venue will be tight in order to make sure the safety of those that are coming to the stadium is prioritised.
“These are very exciting times in Khorixas and we believe that this tournament is going to be a resounding success as it also makes an impact on the lives of many,” she noted.
