Nakabolelwa tournament delivered N$25,000 in prizes over the festive season

The second edition of the Nakabolelwa Annual Tournament took place from 22 to 24 December 2024 in the Kabbe South Constituency of the Zambezi Region.
Sponsored by SNC Corporation, the tournament boasted a total sponsorship of N$25,000. Football champions walked away with N$3,500, a trophy, and medals, while the runners-up received N$2,000 plus medals, and third place secured N$1,000 with medals.
In netball, the winning team claimed N$2,700, a trophy, and medals, with second place earning N$1,600 and third place N$1,000, both accompanied by medals.
Participating villages namely the host Nakabolelwa, Izimwe, Masikili, Ivilivinzi, and Mbalasinte.
Both football and netball followed a group and knockout format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals and the finalists battling it out for the top prize.
SNC Managing Partner Shakwa Nyambe announced the introduction of individual awards for this year’s edition for all sport codes, which will include accolades for:
Top Goal Scorer (Football), Top shooter (Netball), Player of the Tournament
In a statement published on the SNC website, Nyambe praised the success of the event and its impact on community development.
“The Nakabolelwa Annual Tournament continues to grow in significance, serving as a celebration of culture, unity, and athletic excellence in the Zambezi Region. This year’s event fostered a sense of pride and togetherness that resonated throughout the community, leaving a lasting impression on both participants and spectators. It has set a high standard for future editions, and we eagerly anticipate the next tournament,” he said.
