The MTC Nestor Tobias Sunshine Boxing Academy’s Together as One, Part 11 boxing bonanza is slated for Saturday 2 December at the Windhoek Country Club.

This event will be headlined by Fillipus “Energy” Nghitumbwa who will face Thatho Bonokoane from South Africa for the vacant WBO Africa super bantamweight title over 12 championship rounds.

Nghitumbwa was previously ranked in the top-15 by the WBO and is aiming to regain lost ground after his loss on points against John Riel Casimero in the Philippines during May 2023.

The South African opponent’s most recent fight is listed as a points win over Diego Alberto Ruiz of Argentina in September 2022 in Gqeberha, bringing Bonokoane’s current professional record to 14 wins (9 by knockout) and five losses.

On the program will also be a female catchweight exhibition fight, with Lakisha van Wyk from Legends Boxing Academy at Rehoboth stepping up against Mellisa Sekela from the After School Centre Boxing Club in Katutura.

“This exhibition fight is to show that the government, the Boxing Control Board, the Boxing Federation and the boxing community in general support women’s boxing and nobody must be left out,” said boxing trainer and promoter Nestor Tobias.
