Saints continues winning streak
Two games took place last Friday night on the Davin astro hockey field in the Bank Windhoek outdoor hockey league, with Saints men's hockey team taking on DTS while BDO Wanderers men’s team went up against the WHS Old Boys.
The Old Boys put on a brilliant performance by beating Wanderers 5-3. They came out guns blazing and led 4-2 in the first quarter.
Coach Coenie Fourie was happy with the Old Boys' performance, saying: “We were ruthless in the first quarter and that was key in winning the game".
In the other game, Saints took on DTS in a thrilling match, with the former continuing their winning form by their competitors 4-0.
DTS are still struggling in the league, captain Relf Lumley said. "A very tough game we had indeed. Saints were clinical upfront. We have young players who are still finding their way in the team, but we are getting better."
Saints captain Joseph van Niekerk was happy with how his team performed, but felt they could have done better. "Disappointing not to get the bonus point, but overall, the team played really well. Our forward players just need to be more aggressive."
Saints coach Christo Du Raan was overjoyed with how the team showed up and bossed the game.
"Brilliant performance! The team worked together really well. Defence was really good, which led to us scoring goals."
Saints are second in the league after failing to secure a bonus point, while Old Boys are in first place.
