Sardinha pockets Multisave Medal
Golf
For the second week running, Nardo Sardinha played good golf and won the Multisave Medal competition on a 68 nett at Walvis Bay Golf Club.
A field of 33 players participated, with the ten juniors entries competing in their own tournament. The best-gross prize was won by Willie van Zyl on 79. The second best nett went to Michael de Barros on 69, winning the count-out from John Sardinha.
Danie van Antwerpen won the stableford section on 38 points, with Andre Burger placed second on 37 after winning a count-out. The proverbial pot went to Emile Vilbert.
The visiting Cor Beuke (Windhoek Golf Club) shared the two-club money with Tienie de Wet, Kevin Wentzel, Wilma de Wet and Andre Burger.
The Walvis Bay club’s last medal tournament of the year will be played on 16 November. Multisave sponsored the competition throughout the year.
Round seven (of eight) of the Medal Mania which was played in conjunction with the Medal was won by the team 3 Guys and a Trotter on a combined three score of 112. The Desert Rats followed in second on 110. There is still all to play for second and third places, so it is game on next month with three scores to count again.
Anton Welgemoed played 38 points to win the Seniors and it was no surprise that he also won the ‘brood’. Harald Engling followed in second spot with 35 points and Chris Bothma claimed the third place.
