Strong MTB showing at SA champs

The 14 Namibian riders selected from the FNB School mountain bike series to compete at the South African schools championship at Brits in the North West Province once again proved themselves as a competitive force. In the two-day competition, riders competed in their school colours on Saturday, before representing their provincial unions in Sunday’s races, from the under-14 to U18 categories. Highlights were the first positions achieved by Roger Surén (U17 boys, both days); Delsia van Vuuren’s girls U17 first and second positions on the two days, and Rose-Marie Thiel’s U16 first place on Saturday. A few slight corrections were pointed out to the Namibian results published on Monday. Marco Thiel (boys U16) also finished second on Sunday (not third), with Sean Lowe (6th) and Christiaan van der Westhuizen (7th) in the same race each achieving one position better than our initial report.
